Wax on. Wax off.

So after 18 months of procrastinating, the elusive waxing caught up with me! Although it almost didn't go ahead again. We rocked up at Essential Beauty only to be told they wouldn't allow anyone else in to photograph or film due, what they sited as "insurance purposes". bullshit . I was secretly, I mean, quite openly, releaved. But I forgot how dedicated and "loving" my friends were, I mean, how much they wanted to see me in pain. Loshy, Kat, Chris, Robbie, Kate and Emma all on their phones googling Salons open in the city area on a Sunday. They weren't having much luck - places were closed, they didn't do men etc etc. It was all a bust, I was ready for lunch, and then they hit the jackpot - Ella Bache was open, and then had an appointment in 10 minutes for 1pm. Crap! I'm going in!

So I lay down, and waited for that first strip to be pulled off - my chest had the lucky honours. Done! Is that it? Really? Oh, that wasn't so bad... I was surprised at how little it hurt - just like having a bandaid ripped off. I think it also helped that my beauty therapist was quite hot too! Haha! No tears, no screams, no swearing, just relief and happiness in the fact that I had disappointed so many of my friends who wanted to see pain and blood. None here, sorry friends - you need to go elsewhere for a show! Haha! One strip off my back got a little 'Gah' from me, but apart from that, I was stone cold solid, stared down myself in the mirror and didn't even flinch. I was so proud!

So smooth, so shiny, it looks so good! And the girls were fixated with touching the newly waxed areas - I did not object to this... ;)

Over 24 hours on and things are looking good. Wearing a shirt and having a shower have been weird sensations, but apart from that all is good. The chest is a little pink and bumpy at the moment, but the back and shoulders look totally fine. All in all, a successful event! Now to just take care of the skin, and perhaps even do a follow up wax sometime in the future! I never thought I'd ever be thinking that!

Thanks to everyone for donating to the Shave for a Cure cause, even though it was 18 months ago now, haha. And a big thanks to my really great friends for coming along, paying for the waxing, and albeit in their own sadistic way, supporting me through my first ever waxing.

I manned up, I owned my waxing, I was so proud!

Stay tuned for photos...

To end, all I can say is... Steve Carrell - you're a bit of a wimp!
